Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets – primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people – to build applications and develop a commercial case around them.

Orange Affiliates (Orange Madagascar, Personal Argentina, Orange Botswana and currently Orange Moldova). In-depth knows the African, Middle Eastern and Spanish-speaking markets (46 missions in 19 countries).

Douglas Griffith

Doug Griffith is the chief of party of the Moldova Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development II (CEED II) Project, implemented by Chemonics International Inc. Previously, he served as Chemonics’ business development director for Europe and Eurasia, Chief of Party of the Moldova CEED project, and a project director overseeing economic development projects in Armenia, Mali, Nepal, and Romania. He has also designed competitiveness initiatives in Armenia, Kosovo, and Romania and conducted agribusiness sector assessments in Albania, Central Asia, Kosovo, Romania, and South Africa. Prior to joining Chemonics, he worked for mortgage companies in Minneapolis, Minnesota and served for two years in the Peace Corps in the Republic of Niger, in West Africa, as a food security volunteer.

Dmitri is the founder and “flaming engine” of the company "Simpals", the initiator of the first startup incubator in "Simpals Garage". He is one of the first Moldovan startupers, author and ideologist of many successful web-projects: forum.md, 999.md, point.md, play.md and others. Expert in the area of business development, creation of new products and services, Internet producing, and monetization of innovative projects.

Over time this passion has evolved in his own businesses, which he is currently involved in creating 3 new web app products releasing in early 2012.

After moving to Moldova in 2008, he began to have a thirst for the raw talent that he discovered in Moldova, and knew that he found a place where a highly skilled team could be created, after training. Roman Stirbu

Roman is an expert in the field of project management in IT projects - he created and developed high-load Internet projects using the following technologies – ASP.NET, Memcached, Hadoop/Hive/Hbase, Mongodb, Sphinx, Nginx. Roman also is the initiator creator of Agile Moldova Community. To startups will explain with what technologies and how their project could be implemented qualitatively.

Daniela Nemerenco

Strategy coordinator at the e-Government, is working on increasing the quality of public service and governance through technology. Previously, Daniela worked in the New York office of Bessemer Venture Partners, where she identified investment opportunities in software, consumer internet, and other innovative technologies. She worked with the investors in Skype, Linkedin, Verisign, Gartner to help dentify the next big idea. While earning a degree in government from Harvard University, Daniela wrote a thesis on elections and party systems in Eastern Europe. If she weren't so into government, Daniela would most likely be into the renovation of historical buildings in Chisinau.

Igor Putina

Design is a great part of his personal story. Igor was fascinated with drawing very early in childhood and at seventeen made up his mind: he was going to become a designer. In the same year he was asked to do his first ever website. In 2005 Igor had the privilege of going to South Korea for four years to study Visual Communication & Print Design at Hansei University. While in Korea he worked as an independent designer and did a few projects there, and then in early 2010 returned to Moldova to work for Propeople, a Danish web agency. Igor would like to share his passion for design with the participants as everybody learns about building online businesses at Startup Weekend Moldova.

Ohad Sternberg

Born in Israel but raised on board EL-AL airplanes, Ohad has lived in the East Coast, the Middle East and now in Eastern Europe.

After working in an Israeli-American start-up for six years, Ohad decided to dedicate himself to international development work and joined the U.S. Peace Corps, taking a 27-months volunteer position in the capital of Moldova, Chisinau.

His current work includes sustainable development in both the Jewish and Refugee communities. Ohad also teaches at three universities (ASEM, USM, ULIM) on the topics of Labor Economics and Critical Thinking in Contemporary International Affairs.

As Ohad finishes his service this summer and with a true passion for diplomacy, an extensive track record in both corporate America and community building, he continues pursuing his dream of becoming future Secretary General of the United Nations.

A world traveler with a genuine love for conversation, Ohad enjoys storytelling, exploring exotic places and meeting new people. You will most likely find him on a plane, talking to the nearby passengers, using the techniques he learned as a life coach to assist others in realizing their dreams. Ohad believes in the power of networking to promote collaboration and to help people find the success their looking for.

Anton Perkin

Anton is the President of "Association of IT specialists of Moldova" which represent interests of moldavian IT professionals. Also he is the principal and founder of the DeveloperMD Community - the fast growing group of developers, QA engineers and system architects. As a technical specialist, Anton has 7-year experience as a web-programmer and project manager. For now the projects he developed are used in health care, governamental, educationsl, real estate, journalistic, entertainment and sport fields in Moldova and USA. Also he took part in many Goverment related projects building projects and online services for Moldova Road Police and Ministry of Home Affairs.
